The licorice boat is one of Sweden's oldest confectionery products but has been ridiculed and forgotten over the years. Often flavored without any real licorice. A cheap candy.

We want to bring the licorice boat back into the spotlight. Our licorice boat contains 9% raw licorice of the finest quality from Calabria in southern Italy and is slow-cooked and aged for 8 weeks for maximum flavor and texture.

Did you know that the licorice boat was Tore Wretman's* favorite candy? He often munched on a handful of licorice boats after his workdays at Operakällaren in Stockholm, often paired with a glass of cognac.

*Tore Wretman (1916–2003) was a Swedish chef, restaurateur, and food writer who is considered one of the most influential figures in Swedish cuisine during the 20th century. He was a pioneer in developing and elevating Swedish gastronomy, both through his restaurants and his work documenting and promoting Swedish culinary traditions.
